Get moving! Even just simple stretching can help the body and mind relax and give you an extra dose of patience and energy!

Drink Water! When we are busy and overwhelmed we tend to hydrate less. Make sure you get your 8 glasses of water a day to keep your mind alert and sharp! Dehydration can make us feel lethargic, depressed, and anxious.

Take 5! Simply stopping to close your eyes, putting your hand on your heart, and focusing on your breath can immediately help your body and mind relax. Don’t wait until you feel overwhelmed -  Take 5 now!

Tips to Address Feelings of Guilt and Shame

How often do you recall something from the past that brings you a sense of guilt or shame?

Feelings of regret often flood us with guilt and shame causing us to feel an undercurrent of anxiety in every day life. The good news is you don’t have to live full of guilt and shame! You can CHANGE YOUR STORY and experience healing from the inside out.

Tips to Address Feelings of Guilt and Shame

1. Recall the specific event/relationship you are thinking of and let the uncomfortable feelings flood you.

2. Immediately begin to speak out loud as if you are the parent you wanted and needed at that time in your life (whether from childhood or adulthood).

3. Flood yourself with compassion and understanding by saying out loud, “I’m so sorry you felt that way. I'm so sorry you felt out of control, I understand and I have your back”.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you begin to feel a lift of the guilt and shame. Do this as often as you need to; side effects are peace, compassion and acceptance!

Welcome to Change Your Story! I remember the day my therapist said
to me, “What if you could be who you are in your office, everywhere?”

I was hit with a lightening bolt of insight and clarity after years of
feeling like I was making poor choices in romantic relationships. I had
lost my confidence, my ability to honor my intuition and bits and pieces
of my self-esteem were falling away after each failed relationship.

The person I was in my office with clients was confident, assured, bright
and motivated. I never second guessed myself and I honored my
intuition easily. The problem wasn’t that I sucked at relationships, the
problem was the story I was telling myself about my inability to choose
wisely.

I slowly began to change my story, practice being my therapist self in
every area of my life and my confidence began to grow and the shame
began to heal.

Once upon a time there was a sad, depressed, fat, ugly, lonely woman who had no friends. She hated her job, had no hope of romantic love in her life and felt joyless. The End.

Is this a story you would read and share with your friends? Is this a story that leaves you feeling infused with peace, hope and joy?

​Quite the opposite, I read this story and instantly want to burn it! It sounds horrible!


The stories we tell ourselves about our relationships set the stage for what we will experience. Our words have the power to give us life or death. Think about the story you tell yourself and begin to address the unhealthy way you may be talking to yourself.

Write the story you tell yourself and then go back and see where you are full of pain or negativity. Write a brand new story that will reflect your deepest desires and vision for the future. This is the first step in stopping unconscious negative thought patterns. Break the dysfunctional cycle today and begin to see how your life will reflect your new story.
